Six O'clock Feeling

I've just finished reading The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.

'and there was suddenly a six-o'clock feeling in the house.' Muriel Spark The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie

What's the six o'clock feeling in your house today?

Skipping in the door?

To sink into a hot bath?

Dressing up to go out?

Getting ready to eat with friends?

A cup of tea from a stylish yet hearty cup and saucer?

skipping, bath time, dressing , eating cornish red

  1. The six o'clock feeling around our house is always our little Cairn Terrier sprinting through the house once she realizes my husband is at the front door. It's so funny her doing that has made us all being home in the evening a big exciting reunion, just as it should be. I should really give her an extra treat for reminding us just how lucky we are to all be together at the end of the day, and making us celebrate the little things.

  2. Six o'clock in our house almost always finds me in the kitchen, making supper. I listen to the radio as I potter about, and relish the solitude before a meal and an evening all together.

Tonight I found that supper only required about two minutes' effort, so I opened a bottle of cold cider and sat down to write a shopping list while I listened to the radio.

  3. The 6 o' clock feeling doesn't actually hit till 8 when I'm finally in a hot bath with a glass of wine and a book, smugly knowing that everything's done.
    Apparently I was young once!
