unseen, but certain

The final quote that I really liked, that in its way concludes the book.

'She had learnt to wait for the changes and the help that life brings. Life is like the sea, sometimes you are in the trough of the wave, sometimes on the crest, and always, trough or crest a mysterious tide bears you forward to an unseen, but certain shore.' Dorothy Whipple

  1. A lovely lovely quote. There is something both scary and peaceful about that tide: for once, there is something so completely out of your hands, all you can do is float along with it.

  2. A lovely evocative quote. I think sometimes I feel I've gone in too deep and am dangerously out of my depth, and often I end up completely washed up on the shore, but on the shore nonetheless..... to continue the analogy!! xCathy
