Believing

So this time last year I journeyed off by myself to collect my wedding dress. I didn't realise how emotional it would be. Walking out of the shop carrying my dress - I was about to get married. Wow. This was so right. I realised that I'd always hoped to marry but I'm not sure I let myself believe I would. There's a limit to how many times friends can say 'Of course you'll meet someone' and then you don't, and then you do but it doesn't last, and then you don't and then you do - and this time it grows and lasts and you're about to be walking down the aisle to the man you love.

'She had never really believed that it would work out happily; she had hoped, but she had not believed.' Sebastian Faulks Charlotte Gray

  1. My thoughts also about being married! Although I have over a year to go (374 days to be precise) and already have my wedding dress in my possession. That is a lovely quote from Charlotte Grey and a lovely picture too.

  2. And it keeps growing and evolving until you wake up one morning and realise that they have become essential to the way you breathe. The realisation still takes me by surprise sometimes.

  3. What a lovely post. I'm so glad you got your wedding day and that you appreciate being in love and being married so much. It's very heartwarming! I'm still waiting for my Knight in Shining Armour and sometimes it's hard, and I hardly dare to believe that one day it could be me getting married, but at the same time, it's a lot of fun dreaming about what 'he' could be like while I wait!

  6. Oh gosh - I didn't realise - am so happy for you. He is very lucky whoever he is. I've had 25 years of marriage at the end of August and would recommend it.

  9. I actually held a bargain copy of Charlotte Gray in my hands yesterday, but my book buying ban made me put it back :S Also, and more importantly, I'm glad you found someone to share your life with, and that it feels so right.
