Peonies

The Peony season is here. Hurrah! and they remind me of this quotation. I read this novel when on holiday in South Africa. I remember crying many times when reading it. I found it a difficult read, I think it was especially reading it in the country I was journeying in at the time and all my mixed emotions and thoughts of being there. Have you read it? What are your memories of the novel?
'He [God] must have lacked faith in mankinds follow through capabilities, on the day He created flowers.' Barbara Kingsolver The Poisonwood Bible

  1. Peonies are such beautiful flowers. It's a long time since I read Poisonwood Bible, it must be time to revisit it.

  3. Glad you both like peonies. 'Plopped into vases' such a good phrase to use.

  4. I love peonies, my very favorite flowers!! When we got married everyone was shocked when I said all I wanted as far as a bouquet was a big bunch of white peonies tied together. Loved it!
I haven't read Poisonwood Bible yet, it is on my list for this year though!

  5. I'm just discovering my love for peonies, they may soon eclipse my favourite of all flowers - the anemone.
