Wallis Simpson

A while ago we had a week of not used wedding passages. I decided on a winter week as we had a summer wedding - but oh how lovely to have a winter wedding. We had a country wedding yet we live in London - but oh how lovely to have experienced marrying in a city.
So the theme of this week is my imagination and planning a second wedding same man daydream.

The Confirmation

Yes, yours, my love, is the right human face.
I in my mind had waited this long,
Seeing the false and searching for the true,
Then found you as a traveller finds a place
Of welcome suddenly amid the wrong
Valleys and rocks and twisting roads. But you,
What shall I call you? A fountain in a waste,
A well of water in a country dry,
Or anything that's honest and good, an eye
That makes the whole world bright. Your open heart,
Simple with giving, gives the primal deed,
The first good world, the blossom, the blowing seed,
The hearth, the steadfast land, the wandering sea.
Not beautiful or rare in every part.
But like yourself, as they were meant to be.

An alternative dress, Wallis Simpson - no idea if it would suit me but I love it.

And a real bride wearing it.

  1. That gown is simply spectacular! I wanted desperately to get married in the winter, but with so many guests needing to travel we were afraid everyone would get snowed out of the wedding. So we married in spring which was beautiful in its own right. But I still daydream of getting married in the Boston Garden, in the falling snow, surrounded by just a handful of our closest friends and family. I'm probably the only odd person who had dreams of a bridal coat instead of a bridal gown =)

  3. If I did mine again, would choose a dress something like that ... instead of the meringue I wore 25 years ago!
