Touched by an Angel

Touched by an Angel

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train comes ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.

Maya Angelou

I was never going to wear a veil. But oh how I would have loved to wear a birdcage frou frou head piece. Why didn't I? Warmth wouldn't have appreciated, or like it, and this was our wedding, not my wedding.
So here are some day dreams...

  1. It's all too easy to get carried away with weddings and forget it's for both of you, so well done for remembering in time! Why do I not read more Maya Angelou poetry, she is such a lyrical weaver.

  2. I have yet to decide re veil - I have one that a friend has lent me...but since we're going to walk to our wedding together, I'm not sure there's much point!
