'The window looked out on to flower beds, a tangle of Michaelmas daisies, late dahlias, hanging heavy, and shaggy little asters. Then there came a lawn strewn with yellow leaves with a broad path beyond and a row of gold-fluttering trees.' Katherine Mansfield Widowed in Something childish but very natural

How is your garden today?
I wish I had a garden! I have a tiny little plot on my back patio that is just dirt right now. I want to plant some hardy bushes this fall - something that can take the heat and that don't need much care.
ReplyDeleteAnbolyn - Hope you enjoy choosing your plants this autumn and then enjoy them flowering later in the year.
Delete'gold-fluttering trees' is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMy garden is a terrible mess, a windblown tangle of gently dying tobacco plants and dahlias which are struggling on. Every single plant seems to have been laced up by a spider of fearsome proportions. This means I haven't exactly been deadheading much recently...
Helen - Hope those spiders disappear soon. We have lots of insects in our garden - thankfully no fearsome spiders though.
DeleteThings are looking tired after a long and very hot summer but the pots of Mums I bought recently look wonderful amidst it all. We put in a new maple tree and I can't wait to see it turn brilliant red...should be starting soon!
ReplyDeleteDarlene - Will you be able to sit & gaze at the wonderful maple tones? Happy autumn.
