Winter Night
Snow swept over the earth,
Swept it from end to end.
The candle on the table burned.
Like swarms of summer midges
Drawn to the flame
The snowflakes
Flocked to the window.
The driven snow drew circles and arrows
On the window pane.
The candle on the table burned,
The candle burned.
.....
And everything was lost
In the white-haired, white, snowy darkness.
The candle on the table burned,
The candle burned.
.....

The snow swept all through February,
And now and again
The candle on the table burned,
The candle burned.

How did you spend your snowy Sunday?
How did you spend your snowy Sunday?
With a walk to a lake that looked like something out of Frozen Planet, at home with candles burning, rib of beef roasting and a surprise visit from good friends. Good Sunday. Hope yours was too!
ReplyDeleteWith a snowy walk, then home for diner, lit a fire and finished my book, The Paris Wife. I can thoroughly recommend it, a really great read.
ReplyDeleteTonia - It was perfect walking weather. We finished up Saturday's beef stew. It felt like an afternoon for sloe gin.
ReplyDeleteLilac - I have The Paris Wife on my wish list. We spent a fabulous few hours re watching The West Wing.
