gold-fluttering trees

I'm going to miss pottering in the garden with no sense of time now I'm back to school. But the sweet peas are still hanging in and autumn is just around the corner.

'The window looked out on to flower beds, a tangle of Michaelmas daisies, late dahlias, hanging heavy, and shaggy little asters. Then there came a lawn strewn with yellow leaves with a broad path beyond and a row of gold-fluttering trees.' Katherine Mansfield Widowed in Something childish but very natural

How is your garden today?

  1. I wish I had a garden! I have a tiny little plot on my back patio that is just dirt right now. I want to plant some hardy bushes this fall - something that can take the heat and that don't need much care.

    1. Anbolyn - Hope you enjoy choosing your plants this autumn and then enjoy them flowering later in the year.

  2. 'gold-fluttering trees' is so beautiful!

My garden is a terrible mess, a windblown tangle of gently dying tobacco plants and dahlias which are struggling on. Every single plant seems to have been laced up by a spider of fearsome proportions. This means I haven't exactly been deadheading much recently...

    1. Helen - Hope those spiders disappear soon. We have lots of insects in our garden - thankfully no fearsome spiders though.

  3. Things are looking tired after a long and very hot summer but the pots of Mums I bought recently look wonderful amidst it all. We put in a new maple tree and I can't wait to see it turn brilliant red...should be starting soon!
