Love my age

Whilst on holiday Twin and I celebrated our fortieth birthday. Here's what Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire thought about turning forty.

"I was 40 years old last June and at that age one must use oneself to personal disasters. I have learnt however to love my age, and not be ashamed of it..." Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire letter to Mary Grey circa 1798 in Georgiana by Amanda Foreman

Sweet bud of loveliness

"A sweet bud of loveliness," Amanda Foreman Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire

This quote seems appropriate as it's the first day of the Easter holidays. The garden is full of buds, so far thankfully the plants from last year haven't died, there are a few buds of loveliness popping out to say hello. Just waiting with anticipation for blossom on our tree.

Not the first woman

As I didn't post last month I thought this week would be a catch up of a quote from each of the books read in August. It took a long time, partly through the break of Paris in July but I finally finished it.

'She was not the first woman, nor the last, to resent watching men with considerably less talent than herself enjoy far greater and challenging opportunities.' Amanda Foreman Georgiana Duchess of Devonshire.
