riot of lilacs

I am desperate for warm spring to arrive, to be out in the garden. Even if it's not happening in real life, I can pretend it is in blog life, so the next few posts all have a spring flower theme.

'I can only remember the riot of lilacs that bloomed that spring in all the gardens, courtyards, and streets, and how they drove away the smell of winter.' Elisabeth Gille The Mirador

What drives the smell of winter away for you?

  1. Oh for a riot of lilacs! Still, I do have a teapot filled with daffodils and that will do till March shrugs off the last of winter.

    1. Tonia - Having my daffs in a vase suddenly seems dull in comparison to a teapot.

  2. We don't have a ton of flowers here, but it is almost time for the orange blossoms to start blooming. Many people have orange trees in their yards and the smell of the blossoms is one of the most heavenly fragrances I have ever smelled. One of the many reasons that March is my favorite month.

    1. Anbolyn - I love reading about your climate & therefore flowers. I love how different it is. Enjoy the orange blossom scent for me! How wonderful & fortunate you are.
